I’m Wendell (or Del for short) and I bring 11+ years of experience as a remote-first designer and leader. I'm currently living nomadic across the globe!
Also about me:
If you asked me or anyone who knew me in 2012, you'd learn pretty quick that design was the last thing on my mind.
I was studying to become a biomedical engineer - I wanted to build chemical compounds that would help humans survive on Mars. I quickly found it was not for me and needed a new challenge.
I found design and realized that I'd gained an unexpected, transferrable skill: A well honed scientific methodology for evaluating and testing.
I've carried this concept of “The Scientific Designer” with me ever since. My work is heavy on research, cross-team collaboration, documentation, iterative testing, and accounting for edge cases early on. I also know a thing or two about planning for and achieving realistic outcomes.
I love everything about design, and I'm pretty sure I'll never go back to organic engineering (I still have calculus test nightmares). But, I still hold onto my dream of building technology for the betterment of humanity and the life we share our planet with.
